Revisiting those quick thoughts on YOUR final twelve on American Idol
- The guys have continued to dominate. Nikko, whose vocals are shaky but is the best pure performer of the bunch, now has a bunch of spare time with which to field offers from record labels who probably see $$ in him once he spends more time with a vocal coach.
- Why is Scott still around? Is he coasting in the slipstream of the Guys >> Girls hype? I have no idea what anybody sees in him. Anthony isn't very good either, but clearly the ten year-old girls love him and that's why he's still around. But Scott? Grumpy old Scott?
- Green Day got to #2. So did Kelly Clarkson. The charts are primed. Go Bo! Go Constantine!
- Carrie is still the favourite (and not just my fave anymore -- I have to share her now). Simon was right about Jessica -- great voice, no distinct personality, and that's why she's gone.
- The oldsters are still doing exceedingly well. None of the over-25 crew have been voted off.
- The real cat with nine lives is Anthony. I should have seen it coming.
- Vonzell is much improved. I don't see her as superstar material, but I look forward to hearing her now. She seems headed for a top five berth (but no further).
- Heh. Mario left the show, and Anwar is starting to piss me off with the way he oversings everything.
- You can't blame me for picking Mario for the final five. Jessica, in retrospect, looks like wishful thinking. Essentially, Vonzell has assumed the role I had set aside for Jessica. At the start, they both had nice voices but little personality and didn't stand out. Slowly, Vonzell's voice improved, her performances started to connect with people more, and now she's got momentum. Jessica failed to do that. Anwar is now trying too hard. It's time for him to go. Bo choked this week but it won't hurt him much. Simon's prediction about Carrie continues to appear accurate.
- As always
